Lincoln man recalls gunshot sounds in drive-by shooting near Woods Park

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A suspect from a shooting that occurred Friday night near Woods Park in Lincoln is still missing.

Capt. Ryan Dale says around 10:45 Friday night, someone fired multiple shots, hitting two vehicles in the neighborhood near Woods Park at 33rd and O Street.

Dale says the suspect continued down the street and fired more rounds, but no damage was found at the second location.

Brian Stilwell, who lives in the area, said he heard the gunshots, but didn’t know what they were at first.

“I went to bed at 10 o’clock at night, very typical,” he said. “Eleven o’clock at night, I heard a bunch of sharp sounds like bop, bop, bop, bop, bop!”

Stilwell said he got up to look outside.

“By the time I got up and got out of bed, there was nothing to be seen,” he said.

Police say the gunman is described as a black male between 15 and 20 years old, 6 feet tall and 150 pounds.

A witness said he was wearing a black hoodie and black pants and had long, curly hair in a ponytail.

Dale says the police have no named suspects and aren’t sure if this was a targeted event.

Police ask anyone with information to call 402-441-6000.
