Woman stole rings worth $20,000 while cleaning south Lincoln home, deputy says

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A housekeeper was caught Thursday in a ring theft at a south Lincoln home, the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office says.

Chief Deputy Ben Houchin said Monday that the victim, who lives near 56th Street and Yankee Hill Road, put two rings on top of a dresser and left.

When she returned, the two rings – worth around $20,000 – were missing.

After an investigation, deputies found that 18-year-old Alexis Coghlan, who was hired to clean the home, stole the rings.

“She did inform us that, if she had not gotten caught, she was going to sell them for a profit,” Houchin said.

Coghlan was arrested on suspicion of theft.
