Sandhills Global pays $7 million for naming rights to Lancaster Event Center
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — The Lancaster Event Center will soon become the Sandhills Global Event Center.
On Monday, the board of the Lancaster County Agricultural Society approved a $7.125 million naming rights agreement.
Lincoln-based Sandhills Global Inc., which employs almost 1,200 people worldwide, will hold the naming rights for 15 years. The deal takes effect Dec. 1.
“We are proud to support this valuable, hometown facility that serves and engages all elements of our great ag community,” Sandhills CEO Shawn Peed said in a press release.
The ag society also announced new names for the seven largest venues on the 160-acre fairgrounds.
“The Ag Society will implement the new name across the fairgrounds with a public ribbon-cutting ceremony unveiling the new exterior and interior signage to be held before the end of the year,” said Amy Dickerson, managing director of the event center, said in the release.
This is not the first local naming rights deal for Sandhills.
In March, the company gave $4 million toward new baseball and softball fields.
Officials broke ground on that project, which will be called the Sandhills Global Youth Complex, this week.
