Man hid in woods after chase around western Nebraska lake, sheriff’s office says

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A man hid from authorities Friday after a chase around a lake in Lincoln County, the sheriff’s office says.
Around 1:50 a.m., a deputy saw a vehicle at the Birdwood State Wildlife Area just west of North Platte, which closes at sunset.
The vehicle, driven by 25-year-old Jackson Seitz Jr., took off after the deputy tried pulling it over, the sheriff’s office said.
The deputy chased the vehicle to Lake Maloney, where it drove into a ditch and got stuck. Seitz got out and ran into a wooded area.
Two other people in the vehicle were taken into custody and later released, according to the sheriff’s office.
After an extensive search, authorities came across a syringe full of meth. But Seitz was nowhere to be found.
Around 8 a.m., the sheriff’s office sent out an alert to residents in the area and, within a couple of minutes, a caller reported seeing Seitz.
A nearby deputy arrested Seitz on suspicion of possessing a controlled substance and flight to avoid arrest.
An investigation is ongoing, and additional charges are pending, the sheriff’s office said.
