Video shows apparent funnel cloud over airport in Smithfield

SMITHFIELD, R.I. (WLNE) — A viewer shared video with ABC 6 News that shows what appears to be a funnel cloud forming over North Central State Airport in Smithfield on Wednesday.

The video from Larry Levin on Facebook shows rain being blown around the airfield by fast-moving winds as a dark gray cloud begins forming overhead.

The large gray cloud then begins taking the shape of a funnel, nearing the ground behind the airfield.

The National Weather Service has not yet surveyed the area to confirm that damage was done by a tornado.
