Starting early afternoon, strong to severe storms are possible on Thursday
An active Thursday ahead. Following Thursday’s early morning storm activity, strong to possibly severe storms are likely to start early afternoon through the evening. Thursday will be our last day of high temperatures reaching the 70s, by Friday the cold front will drop our temperatures into the 50s.
Some south and northeastern counties have been included in the level 2 Slight risk for severe weather Thursday evening.
Additionally, as of Thursday morning the probability for any isolated tornadoes has expanded and drifted SE. The areas highlighted in brown at this time have the best ingredients for any possible spin-ups.

Although there is a slight possibility for tornadic activity, large hail and localized flooding look to be the main hazards with this system.
As far as the timing of this activity goes, strong to severe storms are likely to occur in the early afternoon and evening hours. The colder air will allow for snow fall in the panhandle, as central and eastern counties see rain. Lingering showers and storms are possible throughout Friday.
Rainfall totals will vary depending on how long a storm lingers over an area. Most look to see close to 2-3″ of rain more north where storms look to hover longer.
Friday will also be quite windy, with gusts close to 60 mph possible. A High Wind Warning is in place through 7:00pm on Friday.
Thursday will be the last day of temperatures in the 70s for a while, cooler air will dip temperatures into the 50s by Friday. A chilly, yet dry weekend ahead.
