Deputies seize loaded guns, marijuana in vehicle on southern Nebraska highway

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Two people were caught Wednesday with marijuana and guns in a vehicle in southern Nebraska, authorities say.

Around 11:20 p.m., Thayer County deputies pulled over a vehicle speeding on Highway 81 near Road R, just north of Hebron.

The Thayer County Sheriff’s Office said a deputy smelled marijuana and began a search of the vehicle.

Inside, deputies found marijuana, two loaded handguns, spare magazines and ammunition, according to the sheriff’s office.

Davondric Prince of Texas and Adrian Shelmire of Louisiana were taken into custody.

Prince was arrested on suspicion of violating the concealed carry law and possession of marijuana.

Shelmire had a felony arrest warrant in Harris County, Texas, for larceny, the sheriff’s office said.
