‘A little piece of home’: Lincoln military mothers raise money for care packages

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – The Blue Star Mothers of Nebraska Chapter 2 hosted its annual donation drive on Saturday at the Super Saver on 27th Street and Pine Lake Road.

The organization consists of mothers of children who are active military reserves or veterans.

They’re making care boxes to send to members of the military who are deployed.

The event was held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., and donations will go toward a box packing event, where the mothers will assemble the care packages.

“It’s more a care package, a little piece of Nebraska, a little piece of home,” said Stephanie Campbell, a member of the group. “That’s why we like to send the jerky and the peanut butter and quick and easy snacks for them.”
