One-on-one with Tom Osborne: Why he turned down Colorado and why he played Lawrence Phillips

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – As Nebraska celebrates 100 years of Memorial Stadium on Saturday, Channel 8’s Lauren Michelson sat down with Tom Osborne to reflect on his 25 seasons as Nebraska’s head coach.

In part two, Osborne shared how he started coaching at Nebraska, his passion for molding and mentoring young athletes, his reason for playing Lawrence Phillips in the 1995 National Championship game and his legacy at Nebraska.

In part one of the interview, Osborne talked about winning back-to-back national titles in 1994 and 1995 and his infamous decision to go for 2 in the 1984 Orange Bowl.
