Nebraska woman seriously injured in crash with parked tractor

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A woman was seriously injured Wednesday in a crash with a tractor in a small Nebraska village.

The Merrick County Sheriff’s Office said the crash happened around 4:50 p.m. on Highway 30 in Clarks, which is northeast of Central City.

An eastbound Hyundai SUV went into a ditch and ramped off a dirt mound.

The vehicle then rolled and struck a utility pole before crashing into a parked John Deere tractor.

The driver, a 53-year-old Grand Island woman, was taken to a Central City hospital with life-threatening injuries.  She has since been flown to a trauma center in Lincoln.

The driver was wearing a seat belt, and the sheriff’s office said neither drugs nor alcohol were a factor in the crash.
