John Cook wants ‘energized’ student section for Husker volleyball’s final home games

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Students lined up Saturday morning and waited several hours to watch Nebraska volleyball defeat then-No. 1 Wisconsin.
And John Cook took notice.
“I looked out and all these people are, like, camped out there and I’m like, ‘What the heck’s going on?” he said at a Tuesday press conference.
As the day progressed, Cook noticed the line growing longer and longer, stretching to the Hendricks Training Complex.

Hours before the match, Cook posted a photo of the students on X, the app formerly known as Twitter.
“So, I tweeted the picture out, you know, they’re saving money because they’re not in the fake and bake,” he said.

Nebraska didn’t disappoint the students, winning the match in a five-set thriller.
Many of the students, donning Nebraska-themed cowboy hats, surrounded Cook after the momentous win.
In a postgame interview on the Big Ten Network, Cook said Nebraska has “one of the best student sections in the country.”

Nebraska has five remaining home games this regular season: Maryland, Rutgers, Northwestern, Illinois and Michigan.
At the press conference, Cook challenged the Husker faithful.
“We want our crowd and that student section energized for all five of those matches,” he said.
