T.F. Green unveils new CLEAR expediated security checkpoint system ahead of holiday travel
WARWICK, R.I. (WLNE) — Rhode Island T.F. Green International Airport unveiled a new addition to its security checkpoints ahead of busy holiday travel.
Officials cut the ribbon Tuesday on the new system, called CLEAR, which helps passengers get through the lines faster.
CLEAR EVP Kyle McLaughlin told ABC 6 News said the opening of the new system aligned with the anticipated record-breaking Thanksgiving travel season.
“Thursday and Friday are typically the two busiest travel days of the year as we head into the Thanksgiving week,” he said.
CLEAR uses biometric face scan technology to compare member’s faces to their driver’s license or passport to ensure a match. Members can then walk through past the TSA line.
“Your experience through the CLEAR lane will be 5 minutes or less 100% of the time,” he said.
Eight CLEAR machines were initially installed at T.F. Green.
CLEAR is a $16 per month membership. It has brought 25 new jobs to the airport.
