Police searching for thieves who stole two bronze statues from Lincoln art gallery

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Police are looking to identify a duo who stole two bronze statues from a downtown Lincoln art gallery last month.

The theft was reported on Oct. 12 at the Kiechel Fine Art gallery near 12th and O streets.

Investigators think a couple who were spotted strolling around the gallery took the sculptures, which were valued at $1,500.

Staff checked security cameras and noticed that the sculptures went missing while the couple were in the room, according to police.

They were the only ones in the building at the time of the theft.

Police are also searching for the thieves involved in a garage theft at a home near First and Adams streets on Oct. 18.

The garage door had been accidentally left open overnight.  The thieves were caught on camera rummaging through two vehicles.

Eventually, they grabbed two e-bikes and two electric scooters and took off, according to police.  The stolen items were valued at $2,800.

Anyone with information on either case is asked to call police at 402-441-6000 or Crime Stoppers at 402-475-3600.
