Nebraska man gets life in prison for murder of 52-year-old woman in 2021
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A northwest Nebraska man will spend the rest of his life behind bars for murdering a woman in 2021.
On Friday, 27-year-old Kevin Kilmer of Kilgore was sentenced to life in prison for killing 52-year-old Ruth Wittmuss, the Nebraska Attorney General’s Office said.
Cherry County District Judge Mark Kozisek also ordered Kilmer to serve 10 to 14 years for use of a weapon to commit a felony.
Kilmer was arrested on Aug. 24, 2021, hours before authorities found Wittmuss’ body along a road in rural Cherry County, an arrest affidavit says.
The Cherry County Sheriff’s Office, the Nebraska State Patrol and the Valentine Police Department investigated the case.
