‘Careless smoking’ sparked fire at northwest Lincoln hotel, LFR says

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Lincoln Fire & Rescue battled flames early Sunday morning in a northwest Lincoln hotel room.

The fire was reported around 6 a.m. at the Sunset Inn & Suites near Northwest 12th and Adams streets.

LFR spokeswoman MJ Lierman said the blaze was contained to a room, but the hallway had smoke damage.

The fire was caused by “careless smoking,” Lierman said.  The smoke detector in the room was also not working.
