Lincoln man arrested in string of mail thefts across Lancaster County

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A man was caught Wednesday with stolen mail from across Lancaster County, the sheriff’s office says.

The Lincoln Police Department arrested 32-year-old James Mologianes on suspicion of possessing meth.

During a search of his vehicle, authorities found 461 pieces of mail, Chief Deputy Ben Houchin said.

The mail was stolen from 249 victims in the county, including people from Bennett, Roca and Waverly.

Houchin said $3,000 worth of checks were in the stolen mail.

“If you believe you’re a victim of a theft, please contact the postal inspector at 877-876-2455,” Houchin said.

The case is being turned over to federal authorities, according to Houchin.
