Man found dead hours after driving car into Bowling Lake Park in Lincoln

Img 2812LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Lincoln Police say a man was found dead in Bowling Lake Park after driving his car into the water Saturday morning.

Police were called around 5:15 a.m. by a man who said he had driven his car into a lake.

When officers arrived, they found tire tracks and saw that the top layer of ice had been broken.

Divers with Lincoln Fire & Rescue went into the lake and found an unoccupied vehicle that was fully submerged.

First responders continued searching the lake and found a man’s body around 11:40 a.m.

Police believe the man is the same man who initially called about the crash.

Officers do not think anyone else was in the vehicle.

The identity of the man will be released following family notification.
