Two killed in crash on rural road near Kearney

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Two men were killed early Tuesday morning in a crash in rural Kearney County.

The sheriff’s office said the two-vehicle crash happened at 35th and K roads, about 25 miles southeast of Kearney.

The crash involved an eastbound Jeep Wrangler and a northbound Ford Ranger.

Both drivers — 64-year-old Charles Tomsen of Minden and 38-year-old Cesar Castro of Upland — were pronounced dead at the scene.

The Nebraska State Patrol, the Kearney County Sheriff’s Office and the Kearney County Attorney’s Office are investigating the crash.

The sheriff’s office said the drivers were not wearing seat belts.
