With healthcare workers suffering from a worldwide shortage of personal protective equipment, those in the Beatrice community decided to step up.

Josh Erickson, along with Beatrice Middle School, the Educational Service Unit and a number of other hobbyist are 3D printing headbands for face shields.

“So, our printers are putting two out every two hours and Annette’s got three more at hers,” Matthew Dworak said.

Together, they’re printing over 100 a day.

“It’s real important. Those are the people who are on our front lines and they put themselves and their own families at risk everyday. So, to me it’s a very small thing that can be done to help,” Annette Weise said.

The group said anything they can do to help, they will. They’re working on producing 400 right now but already have other hospitals asking them to make more, something they’re more than willing to do.

“Anything we can do to contribute to that effort, it is going to be a positive thing,” Erickson said.
