Gaylor Baird talks about City of Lincoln’s snow response
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Lincoln is gearing up for the second winter storm in a matter of days.
Mayor Leirion Gaylor Baird sat down with Channel 8 to talk about the city’s response.
“Emergency snow routes, buses, bus routes, school routes, all of those are the initial targets of our crews,” she said. “But then we also bring into the fold additional plows to tackle the residential streets when we have exceptionally heavy snowfall.”

Residential streets don’t get treated with brine or salt, “so you will see a difference,” the mayor said.
The city employs around 165 plow drivers and Gaylor Baird was recently at the Municipal Services Center to thank the workers.
They all told her that this is their job, they love doing it and they will work until the job is done.
