Five children evacuated from Lincoln home after fire started in basement

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — Lincoln Fire & Rescue crews had another busy morning fighting a house fire in frigid temperatures.

Crews responded to the call just before 8 a.m. on Friday near 38th and O Streets.

According to a Facebook post, LFR said crews found a fire in the basement of the home but quickly put out the flames.

LFR spokeswoman MJ Lierman said five children were evacuated from the home.

The children had accidentally started the fire, according to Lierman.

The blaze caused $75,000 in damage to the home.
