Lincoln students give Gov. Jim Pillen tour of The Career Academy
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Nebraska Gov. Jim Pillen got a student-led tour Tuesday at The Career Academy in Lincoln.
The Career Academy is a collaboration between Lincoln Public Schools and Southeast Community College.
Officials said the program allows high school juniors and seniors to take specific career courses while earning credits from LPS and SCC.
Pillen visited several classes, including welding, construction, health science and criminal justice.
“We need to have more teachers, we need to have more people in mental health fields,” Pillen said. “So those are areas where it’s going to be important that the state plays a more active role.”
More information on The Career Academy can be found on LPS’s website.
