One person sent to hospital after fire at southeast Lincoln hotel
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — One person was hospitalized Sunday after a fire broke out at a southeast Lincoln hotel.
Lincoln Fire & Rescue crews responded to the fire at Candlewood Suites near 70th Street and Pioneers Boulevard just after 7:30 p.m.
Officials at the scene told Channel 8 that one person was taken to a hospital with injuries but couldn’t say how serious they were.
LFR said the fire stayed in a single room.
“It was contained by the sprinkler systems,” Battalion Chief Lloyd Mueller said. “LFR showed up on location to finish extinguishing the fire.”
LFR spokeswoman MJ Lierman said the fire was caused by a cooking oil spill on the stove.
Lierman said 10 to 15 people were displaced.
