Temperatures cookin’ the next two days, again late this weekend
Tuesday will likely end up being the warmest day of 2024 so far, stretching for the upper 60s. That will be happening with stronger winds out of the southwest, gusting around 25-30 mph across southeast Nebraska through a better part of this afternoon.
With these winds, the dry air and the dry vegetation out there, there is a higher risk of fire danger today.
The morning won’t start with so much wind, but once the winds do kick up, you’ll notice we will warm quite a bit into the 11 a.m. hour on Tuesday and beyond that.
Highs will be pushing the upper 60s for just about everyone. For Lincoln, we’ll be nearing the record of 71° set back in 1991. It’ll be close. Can’t stress enough how great it will be to be outdoors with any plans you may have especially Tuesday and Wednesday of this week!
These highs will be about 25 degrees ABOVE average highs for this time of the year (compared to the normal of 42°). What a warm air mass we have building in for the day today!
It’s not only Tuesday, but again Wednesday and Saturday into next week that we will be over 20 degrees above average. These temperatures stick around long enough to get used to them, but there’s not a solid idea yet if this will really be the case for March.
Below is a look at the forecasted highs through the end of the work week that remain very warm for February. More like we’ve been having what feels like a wonderful April this February.
Precipitation will be hard to come by through the weekend. There’s a small chance for a few passing sprinkles Thursday morning, but that’s about it until next week.
