Mild but breezy weekend
March is here and it’s going to feel like spring this weekend. The average high in early March is in the upper 40s, but we’ll be well above that.
Precipitation chances will hold off for the weekend, but there’s a chance for some light rain late Sunday, then again the 2nd half of next week.
Saturday is going to be a mild one! Highs will be a good 10 to 15 degrees above average. It’ll be a little breezy, though.
We will get to 60 by noon with a south breeze at 10 to 20 mph. We’ll top out around 70 by mid afternoon with lots of sunshine.
We’ll be a little warmer on Sunday, for most of us. However, a cold front is headed our way and will cool us down as soon as it blows through.
Weather models have the front moving through the Lincoln area by late morning. If it does that, it’ll be cooler Friday afternoon.
Speaking of cooler, above are the average highs and lows and sunrises and sunsets for March 1 and March 31. 60 is the average high by the end of the month!
Incredibly, the average high for Lincoln in February was in the 55.8 degrees. That’s the warmest on record!
We weren’t alone, either. Omaha and Broken Bow saw their warmest average high in February on record while GI and Norfolk saw their 2nd warmest.
Hastings, Imperial, McCook, North Platte, and Valentine saw very warm Februarys, too.
