Lincoln man identified as victim of deadly crash on Interstate 80
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A Lincoln man died Tuesday in a crash on Interstate 80.
Authorities were called to the crash near Gretna about 1:40 p.m.
Gary Vaughn, a 64-year-old from Lincoln, was going west in a Ram pickup truck, according to the Sarpy County Sheriff’s Office.
He crossed the median and hit an eastbound Ram, the sheriff’s office said.
Vaughn died at the scene, according to authorities.
The other driver was taken to an Omaha hospital with injuries that were serious but not life-threatening.
Eastbound I-80 was closed between Gretna and west Omaha while the crash was cleaned up.
A Nebraska Department of Transportation camera at the Gretna interchange showed standstill traffic around 3:15 p.m.
The road reopened just after 4 p.m.
