LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A young Lincoln boy undergoing major back surgery Monday will be celebrating his 9th birthday on Saturday and the family is asking for birthday cards and wishes.

Caleb Ochsner of Lincoln was diagnosed with Chiari Malformation and Tethered Cord Syndrome just several months ago, the lifelong diseases have made it hard for him to walk, bike, and do normal 9-year-old boy activities. The diagnosis has been really hard on Caleb and for that fact the whole family, his mother Misty said. He is having his first major back surgery on Monday just days after his special birthday.

Family and friends made a Facebook post asking people to shower Caleb in birthday cards and extra prayers that grabbed the attention of many. People from all over have reached out to send cards, drop off food and goodies, even Lincoln Police making a stop at their home to give Caleb some extra words of encouragement. A birthday drive-by and porch drop-off celebration has now been scheduled for Caleb on Saturday at his home on X Street.

Caleb’s mother is hopeful and staying positive through the hard times, on top of COVID-19.

You can send Caleb a card or attend his birthday drive-by celebration from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday at 3530 X Street in Lincoln.
