LTU lays out plan for $2.3 million in street improvements in northwest Lincoln

LINCOLN, Neb. –  There was a meeting at Eiseley Branch Library on Monday to inform drivers about $2.3 million in upcoming roadwork.

The improvements include reconstruction of West Fletcher Avenue at the curve west of Northwest Fourth Street, as well as a mill and overlay of the existing road surface and base repairs where necessary.

The Lincoln Transportation and Utilities Department plans to upgrade existing curb ramps to meet federal and local standards.

Construction is planned to begin before the end of the month and conclude sometime this fall.

While cross traffic on West Fletcher will remain open in intersections, drivers should expect road closures and detours.

The project also includes work on West Highland Boulevard from Northwest First to Northwest Seventh streets.

A Channel 8 reporter talked to some residents in the area who seemed excited about the road improvements.
