Police shock man with Taser after northeast Lincoln traffic stop
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — Lincoln Police say one man was arrested early Thursday morning after he resisted an officer.
An officer pulled over a vehicle around 12:15 a.m. near 62nd Street and Havelock Avenue.
Police said the vehicle had been reported stolen earlier in the week.
The officer saw an open container of alcohol inside.
The passenger, 53-year-old Rodney Rodwell, resisted the officer’s commands, according to the Lincoln Police Department.
He tried to get back into the vehicle, police said, and struggled with the officer.
LPD said the officer used his Taser to stop Rodwell, who was taken to a hospital, per standard procedure.
During a search, police found 8.1 grams of methamphetamine.
Rodwell was released from the hospital and arrested on suspicion of resisting arrest and possession of a controlled substance.
The driver, a 38-year-old woman, was cited on suspicion of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, driving under suspension and possession of an open alcohol container.
