Omaha police arrest 3 in connection with fatal shooting

OMAHA, Neb. (AP) — Three people have been arrested in connection with the shooting death of a man in north Omaha.

Omaha Police said 18-year-old Dalon Sherman was arrested on suspicion of first-degree murder and a weapons charge in connection with the Aug. 3 shooting of Bennie Cartwright, 36.

Two other teenagers were arrested on other charges. Police said 19-year-old Janaeco Richards was arrested on suspicion of being an accessory to a felony. Jordan Phillips, 18, was arrested on suspicion of tampering with evidence.

Cartwright was found dead around North 28th Avenue and Bristol Street on Aug. 3 after officers responded to a report of gunshots. No other details were released about the shooting.
