LFR battles forklift fire at north Lincoln recycling center

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Lincoln Fire & Rescue crews extinguished a fiery forklift Tuesday at a recycling center.

The fire was reported around 2 p.m. at Firstar Fiber near 48th and Superior streets.

LFR spokeswoman MJ Lierman said a forklift caught fire inside the building.

Firefighters were able to contain the flames, according to Lierman.

A user on the Now Local News App posted a video that showed an LFR engine responding to the scene.  No smoke was seen coming from the building.

Lierman said the forklift sustained about $2,000 in damage and is repairable.

There was no damage to the structure, and no one was hurt.

Last month, a fire in an electrical panel spread to a compactor at the recycling center.  The flames caused over $500,000 in damage.
