Former York paraeducator pleads not guilty to sexual assault of child

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A former York Elementary School paraeducator accused of sexually assaulting a student pleaded not guilty Monday.
Scott Velasquez-Lopez, 23, pleaded not guilty to two counts of third-degree sexual assault of a child, according to court records.
Lopez was arrested on Jan. 23 after a school administrator reported the assault.
He “inappropriately touched” a 6-year-old boy off the school’s campus, according to an arrest affidavit.
Lopez’s next court appearance is scheduled for July 2.
