LPD tickets several for wild parties over Husker Homecoming weekend

Football, tailgates and Saturdays all add up to a good time.

But for some last weekend the good time went a little too far.

Lincoln police said they got called to a house in the North Bottoms Saturday afternoon.

They found more than 300 students drinking, many were underage.

The tenant got a ticket for maintaining a disorderly house, and he wasn’t the only one.

“I’m aware of a lot of people getting written up,” Noah Mussman, UNL Student said.

Police gave out seven tickets for maintaining a disorderly house and responded to 12 calls about wild parties.

It was the first time this football season that tickets for maintaining a disorderly house were handed out.

This comes just a few weeks after UNL asked their students to register parties.

If you register, the school will give you advice on how to hold a safe party and LPD dispatch will be notified. If you get a call reporting a party you’ll be given a warning before police come and a chance to get the party under control yourself.

“It’s really popular in SEC schools in Arizona, Colorado and I think it’ll start here too,” Mussman said.

Police officer Angela Sands said six students registered parties the first weekend it was available, and one registered parties the second.

They don’t know how many registered parties last weekend, UNL officials didn’t get back to us with the answer either.
