Teen arrested for robbing two men at gunpoint, more suspects on the loose

A 14-year-old is in custody after he was allegedly involved in two robberies on Jayne Snyder Trail.
Lincoln police said the first robbery happened just before 9:00 Monday night. A 23-year-old man said he was walking home from the UNL downtown campus on the trail when he was swarmed by five minors.
He told police they pushed him and demanded his wallet and phone. He told police a few of them had guns. They hit him in the back of the head, causing him to bleed before running away.
They didn’t get away with any of his belongings. The victim called police.
A second, very similar robbery, happened along the same trail right after.
A 28-year-old man said he was also approached by several juveniles who demanded his phone and wallet, then hit him in the face. One pointed a gun at him.
Police said the victim gave the suspects his phone and wallet, then they ran away.
When police got to the area, they found a 14-year-old near Elliot Elementary school who later admitted to being involved in the robberies.
He was taken to the youth attention center for robbery and use of a weapon to commit a felony.
Police said they haven’t found a weapon, and are looking for the rest of the suspects. The first victim described them as four black males and one white female, all in their early teens.
