Nebraska’s Mason McConnaughey gets Big Ten Pitcher of the Week honor

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Nebraska’s Mason McConnaughey is the Big Ten Pitcher of the Week, the conference announced Monday.
McConnaughey shut down Rutgers’ offense Sunday in Nebraska’s 16-1 win on the road in Piscataway, New Jersey.

He matched his career high with nine strikeouts and only allowed one baserunner to reach third base.
With seven shutout innings, the Kansas native picked up his second quality start of the season.
This is the second straight week a Nebraska pitcher was named the conference’s top ace. Brett Sears got the honor for his shutout of Ohio State.
Nebraska returns to Haymarket Park on Tuesday to face in-state rival Creighton. The game will be broadcast on Nebraska Public Media at 6:05 p.m.
