Omaha to Lincoln: Today’s tribute to a fallen officer
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — After passing away around 3:30 a.m. Monday, LPD Investigator Mario Herrera’s body was escorted from Omaha to a Lincoln Funeral home.
Community members lined the streets to pay their respects to the fallen officer.

At the Hall of Justice, the Lincoln Police Department placed an enlarged badge, fitted with a mourning band, as a memorial to Inv. Herrera. Other officers and community members laid down flowers and prayers at the site to express their gratitude for his service.
Friends of Herrera held a short memorial in his honor, folding a flag and even getting emotional as they remember their friendship.
