‘Scary scene’: Lincoln man recounts hit-and-run crash

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — A Lincoln family is speaking out after being victims of a hit-and-run in Air Park on Sunday evening.

“It was a scary, scary scene,” said Rick, who wanted to keep his last name private. “And what I really can’t understand is that people that caused the accident, they just drove off.”

The crash occurred at Air Park Road and Northwest 44th Street.

Rick said he and his wife were taking their granddaughter home when it happened.

He said the other vehicle drove past the stop sign on Northwest 44th.

“The car went down the ditch,” he said. “And ours rolled over on the side, and we had to go through the sunroof to get out of it.”

The family suffered minor injuries and had to be taken to a hospital.

Rick is thankful that the injuries were minor, though his vehicle has heavy damage.

Rick said they saw two women inside the other vehicle, a silver SUV.

Police records say an officer tried looking for the SUV but couldn’t find it.

“I’m a little bit angry that they just got away with it,” Rick said.
