Man sent to prison for selling drugs stolen from Nebraska State Patrol evidence room
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — A Lincoln man was sentenced to federal prison Wednesday for selling drugs that caused multiple overdoses.
George Weaver Jr., 38, will spend 25 years behind bars.
U.S. District Judge John Gerrard also sentenced him to eight years of post-prison supervised release.
In 2021, Weaver’s girlfriend — Anna Idigima — stole large amounts of drugs from the Nebraska State Patrol evidence room, where she worked.
She then gave them to Weaver to sell in Lincoln, authorities said.

The state patrol estimated that 154 pounds of marijuana, 32 pounds of THC, 19 pounds of cocaine, 10 pounds of heroin, 6 pounds of fentanyl and 3 pounds of methamphetamine were missing from the evidence room.
More than 1,700 THC vape cartridges and numerous pills were also gone, an audit found.
Weaver sold the drugs in a Lincoln apartment and out of the back room of his restaurant, GrannyWeavs, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.

On Aug. 4, 2021, a married couple overdosed in Nebraska City, the U.S. Attorney’s Office said.
Both were given Narcan, and one of them needed CPR.
Authorities determined that they had taken cocaine laced with fentanyl.
Investigators tracked down the man who sold them the cocaine, and he said he bought it from Weaver.
On Aug. 18, a man overdosed near his Lincoln home.
He was found unconscious and unresponsive and was given CPR and Narcan.
Investigators said they found about 4 grams of cocaine and fentanyl in his car and wallet.
The man’s dealer was arrested two days later, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office, and said the drugs were “bad stuff” that he bought from Weaver.
Investigators found a photo of large bags of marijuana on Weaver’s Snapchat account.
One of the bags had a piece of red tape on it that looked like the state patrol’s evidence label, authorities said.
After he was arrested, Weaver told another inmate about the scheme, the U.S. Attorney’s Office said.
He estimated that the drugs stolen from the evidence room were worth over $1 million and said he made “good money,” according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
Weaver also told the inmate that he mixed fentanyl with the drugs to make them more addictive and get his customers hooked.
He pleaded guilty in March 2023.
Idigima was sentenced in July to 21 years and 10 months in prison.
