Man stabbed in neck near west Lincoln gas station, police say

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A man was stabbed in the neck Wednesday morning near a west Lincoln gas station.

Around 7:45 a.m., a 41-year-old man walked into U-Stop near First and West O streets and said he had been stabbed.

Employees called 911, and the man — who had a neck wound — was taken to a hospital in critical condition, police said.

Two of the employees said the man was bleeding excessively but remained calm.

Investigators think the stabbing happened at a bus stop across the street.

During the investigation, police arrested 62-year-old John King on suspicion of possession a deadly weapon by a prohibited person.

Police said King was not arrested for the stabbing itself.

Investigators are still gathering video and interviewing witnesses.
