Lincoln day care ushers in new life to previously vacant spot

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Two Lincoln women are ushering in new life to a vacant building in south Lincoln.

Kristie Jones and Peggy Robinette are opening a new daycare called Wiggles and Giggles near South 14th Street and Nebraska Parkway.

The two women previously operated a daycare out of their homes, but realized they needed to expand.

“I’ve seen need everywhere,” said Jones “In a home daycare you are limited, very limited, and usually we were always full, so you know turning away people is always hardest.”

They are now using a space that was previously used by a daycare, but recently closed.

The duo says they are fully staffed and look forward to having the capacity to welcome 72 kids to the daycare.

“There was a need, and I think we decided to do this center because we knew we had families that were having babies and we needed to get bigger,” Robinette said.

Although opening a new business can come with its challenges, Jones and Robinette are looking to be a resource for families struggling to find daycare in Lincoln.

“Wonderful to know that we can be there for so many people, and so many, you know, parents that don’t have childcare right now,” Jones said.
