COVID outbreak at Lancaster Rehabilitation Center

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — The Lancaster Rehabilitation Center, 1001 South St., released a statement concerning a coronavirus outbreak at their facility. It is a long-term care center with nearly 300 beds.
“Up to this point, we had been successful in keeping the coronavirus from Lancaster Rehabilitation Center residents,” read the statement. “This virus transmits unlike any we have seen and made its way to our residents, regardless of the extreme precautions we have taken since the pandemic began.”
According to facility officials, they continue to work with local medical professions on how to best contain the outbreak and further protect their residents.
Lancaster Rehabilitation Center officials then ended their statement with a plea to the community.
“Studies have proven that positivity rates in a community directly correlate with outbreaks in the long-term care facilities in that community, so we plead with every resident of Lancaster County to help in our efforts by staying home, wearing a face mask, practicing physical distancing, and avoiding gatherings.”
