Family’s home-movies raise thousands for charity

Family's Quarantine Activity Raises Money For Charity

OMAHA, Neb. (KMTV) — When the pandemic hit, families had to get creative to keep kids entertained.

One family even began shooting movie renditions with their kids to keep them engaged. Now, those fun video projects are raising money for Feeding America.

From “Jerry Maguire” to “The Goonies,” Connecticut’s Presser family had no idea their hobby would turn out some blockbusters.

Beth Presser, mother and Omaha-native said, “We kind of just thought of movies that we like… and then we started asking our family and friends what movies they wanted to see.”

In fact, friends and neighborhood kids have been cast in some starring roles in the Presser’s Quarantine 2020 Productions films.

As the video’s popularity grew, the family decided to use their star-power for good by raising money for Feeding America.

“We’re not on the frontlines, we can’t help with some of that medicine stuff,” commented Beth’s husband, Dan. “So, this is a way that we can kind of help… within our capabilities.”

Initially, the Pressers hoped to raise around a thousand dollars. Now, they’ve collected more than $30,000 for Feeding America.

Donations came from across the globe, including Europe, South America, and Asia.

Author and motivational speaker Tony Robbins even got involved, matching the $13,000 raised at that time, quickly bringing the total to $26,000.

Thanks to the Presser family and Quarantine 2020 Productions, Feeding America is getting a lot of much-needed support this holiday season.
