Washington has one of the at-large seats on the council.
She was appointed in 2019 to fill the vacancy left when Leirion Gaylor Baird became mayor. Washington was elected to a full term in 2021.
In her time on the council, she said the city has made $167 million in street improvements and added over 2,100 affordable housing units.
Washington is a Democrat, but the council is officially nonpartisan.
The top two candidates in each race will advance from the city primary on April 8.
The general election is May 6.
