Seven more COVID deaths in Lancaster County

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Today, officials with the Lincoln-Lancaster County Health Department (LLCHD) report seven more deaths COVID deaths, bringing the community total to 110.

This is a new record for Lancaster County concerning the number of deaths reported in one day.

The deceased has been identified as a man in his 70s, two men and one woman in their 80s, plus a man and a woman in their 90s– all in long-term care facilities. Additionally, one man who was hospitalized also passed due to the coronavirus.

Of the 110 total deaths reported, 34 happened in November, and 31 have been reported since Dec. 1.

Officials also announced 172 new cases, bringing the total for Lancaster County to 19,195.

Reported recoveries increased from 5,536 to 5,591.

As of today, 131 people are hospitalized due to COVID-19 (80 from Lancaster County). A total of 17 are on ventilators.

The positivity rate so far this week is 26.7%.
