“No Place Like Nebraska”: Inside look at ESPN’s Nebraska volleyball documentary
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – The wait is nearly over for ESPN’s E:60 feature on last year’s Nebraska volleyball team.
“No Place Like Nebraska” will make its debut this afternoon at 4 p.m. on ESPN.
Co-director of the film Jen Karson-Strauss knew Nebraska volleyball was different even before 92,003 fans packed into Memorial Stadium.
“We knew there was something different about this program,” said Strauss. “90,000 plus fans don’t just show up on August 30th, 2023, just because. This had to of been decades of effort in the making, a relationship with a dedicated fanbase and a coach who had been there for many, many years.”
The documentary goes into great detail about the highs and lows of the Huskers’ season and weaves together the very fabric of Husker volleyball.
“We came in really curious,” said Strauss. “We told our bosses, ‘There’s an appetite for this and we should be the ones to tell this story.'”
Strauss became married to the process, and the long road to creating this film made a Husker fan out of the California native.
“I am a huge fan of them,” said Strauss. “As competitors, yes. But as people, more so.”
