Police seeking ‘person of interest’ in north Lincoln shooting

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – The Lincoln Police Department is seeking a “person of interest” in a north Lincoln shooting Saturday night.

In an update Monday, Assistant Police Chief Jason Stille said a 20-year-old woman was shot in the back near 33rd and Holdrege streets.

She was taken to a hospital and is in stable condition, Stille said.

Around the time of the shooting, the University of Nebraska-Lincoln posted an alert about a man armed with a rifle at the intersection, which is next to East Campus.

Police think this was a targeted shooting, and a “person of interest” has been identified.

Investigators found at least 17 rifle casings from a high-powered rifle in the area.

Anyone with information is asked to call police at 402-441-6000 or Crime Stoppers at 402-475-3600.
