California man killed in semi crash on I-80 in Seward County

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A California man was killed Wednesday morning in a crash with a semi in Seward County, the sheriff’s office says.

The crash happened around 6:15 a.m. on eastbound Interstate 80, just southwest of Seward.

The sheriff’s office said a semi, driven by 34-year-old Suny Rattu, crashed into the rear of another semi.

Rattu was pronounced dead at the scene.  The other semi-driver, a 40-year-old man from Virginia, was taken to a hospital with minor injuries.

The crash shut down eastbound I-80 for several hours.

Seward Fire and Rescue, the Seward Police Department and the Nebraska State Patrol all responded to the scene.

An investigation is ongoing, the sheriff’s office said.
