LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — A Lincoln day care provider was arrested Tuesday on suspicion of child abuse causing serious injury.

Tiffany Frye, 46, was taken into custody at her home in southeast Lincoln, which is also the location of Tiny Toes Infant Care.

On Sept. 18, a mother dropped her 4-month-old baby off at the day care, according to court documents.

An arrest affidavit says Frye got frustrated when she was putting the boy in a baby glider because he wouldn’t straighten his legs.

Frye pulled too hard on one of his legs, according to police, and heard a popping sound.

The baby was crying for the rest of the day, police said.

The crying made Frye even more frustrated, the affidavit says, and she intentionally put the boy down too hard on a changing table, causing a head injury.

Frye didn’t tell the baby’s parents about either injury, according to police.

The mom noticed that her son’s leg was limber and easy to move, so she took him to a Lincoln hospital. He was later transferred to the children’s hospital in Omaha.

Doctors found that the boy had a fractured femur and a subdural hematoma in his head.

On Wednesday, a judge set Frye bond at $75,000. She must pay $10% of that — $7,500 — to be released from jail.

She is scheduled to appear in court again on Oct. 29.
