Free meals to be given to Lincoln’s needy just before Christmas
With the holidays near, and families still in need, a local food delivery service wants to make sure they have fresh meals this season

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — Inspired to give during tough times, Clean Slate Food Co. is preparing Christmas meals to go while thriving in a pandemic.
“It’s been a rough year all around for everybody and we figured that folks could use a hot meal,” said Markus Svoboda, for Clean Slate Food Co.
Clean Slate food Co., a local food delivery service, will give 500 meals to those in need for the Christmas season.
“When COVID first started, we knew that we had to kind of do a community outreach and offer meals where we could and we got a lot of positive feedback for that,” said Dylan Thompson, co-owner. “So that kind of brings us to this time of year to give back again.”
“We will be serving mashed potatoes, green beans, and ham,” said Svoboda.
They prepare ready-to-go meals with fresh ingredients and when the pandemic started, the owners say their business model is one of the lucky ones to thrive during COVID-19.
“Fortunately, during the COVID we didn’t lose any employees,” said Thompson. “We kept operating, just as normal we actually saw a bit of an uptick because people were staying at home, looking for a meal delivery options where they didn’t have to go to restaurants to the grocery store, make it a little bit safer a little bit easier for people.”
Each meal will be individually packaged and families can receive as many as they need. They also will drop off meals to those without transportation.
“It’s 100% free all you got to do is show up no questions asked,” said Svoboda. “We are passing free meals out of our kitchen, on December 23rd from noon to 6 p.m. We are located at 8341 O Street on the south side of the building. But for anyone without transportation, you can contact us and we’ll organize a drop-off.”
