Post COVID vaccine symptoms

Reactions to the COVID-19 vaccine have been pretty minor for some of our local healthcare workers, most of them only seeing as much as a sore arm.

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – About two weeks ago, healthcare workers got the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, so it’s time to check in and see how they are feeling.

Channel 8 News talked to several healthcare workers at CHI Health hospitals across the state on how they are feeling post COVID vaccine. The majority of our front line workers who have received the shot say they haven’t had many symptoms at all, mostly just some arm pain.

“I’m feeling really good, I only had some minor aches and a little bit of soreness in my arm,” Aria Diehl, a Nurse with CHI Health said.

But having minor symptoms, according to health officials, is a good thing.

“You do want some reaction to the vaccine, it means your immune system is working and responding,” Dr. Cory Shield of CHI Health said. “If you have a more robust response to headaches you’re probably getting a better response to the vaccine.”

Although none of the CHI Health employees we spoke with had any serious symptoms from the vaccine, it has been noted some have experienced fevers, nausea, chills, etc. Those symptoms usually going away within a day or two of the shot.

The COVID-19 vaccine is tentatively set for public use this coming Spring. However, Nebraska will not mandate citizens to get the vaccine, but strongly encourage it.
